A 5 cm‐Scale Piezoelectric Jetting Agile Underwater Robot

Existing miniature underwater robots, which use electromagnetic actuators or soft actuators, function in shallow waters. However, the deep sea, robots face challenges, such as miniaturization of pressure protection unit and driving method for rapid agile motions. Herein, a jet-driven high-pressure environment is proposed by utilizing high-frequency vibration piezoelectric vibrator. Thereafter, an antihydropressure robot with body length less than 5 cm designed, can perform highly actions floating, sinking, hovering, straight driving, turning under water 20 MPa (equal to depth 2000 m). A vertical velocity 2.95 BH/s horizontal 3.22 BL/s are realized prototype, it achieves faster motions existing robots. Some potential applications have been realized, including small multicorner pipe exploration carrying camera, seaweed epidermal cell sampling designated areas, large object transportation swarming, proves high maneuverability agility developed robot. These merits make ideal multitasking operations narrow environments pressure, multiobstacle seabed.
